Here are the steps to adjust the tension.
If you do not want to feed large birds:
1.Adjust the spring by turning the red dial at the bottom of the feeder towards the minus sign. You will notice that the red nut inside is moving upwards.
If you want to feed large birds:
1.Adjust the spring by turning the red dial at the bottom of the feeder towards the plus sign. You will notice that the red nut inside is moving downwards.
