Description: A once-in-a-lifetime sighting of a bald eagle down in the water,stalking ducklings. Made even more special by the fact we watched this unsuccessful hunting attempt while out kayaking to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Shot using a long telephoto lens from a non-intrusive distance away. After the eagle gave up on the ducklings, it took off from the water and flew to the top of a nearby standing dead tree, where it hung its wings partially open to air dry its feathers.
