This is Part 3 of my visit to Le Nichoir and wildlife biologist Joannie Gagnon tells us what to do with injured birds. Dr. Bird answers a question about if birds know when a storm is coming or not, and I share a couple of stories about incredible preservation initiatives in Belarus and Vermont. Very colourful photography on Winner’s Circle, next week’s theme is Water Birds. I hope you all had a great Christmas – I know I’m looking forward to an amazing 2017. See you in the New Year!

Sadly the chickadees and nuthatches didn’t warn us in southern Manitoba of the storm that hit us Christmas Day. 🙂
Really? We were watching our Chickadees right before an ice storm here on the 26th, and they were frantic at the feeders. I could tell something was up!
I can tell how busy the feeders are by the amount of shells laying in the snow underneath. Pretty clean on the 24th and 25th. Just in from filling the feeders 5 minutes ago and now the snow is dotted with countless oil sunflower shells. As I write chickadees, w-b nuthatches and downys are flying back and forth. Beautiful day here today.
