This week’s envirominute challenge is to try and reduce the use of disposable paper cups. 58 000 000 000 cups are thrown away annually and that means over 20 million trees are cut down to make them. That’s a lot of habitat loss for a cup of coffee! Dr. Bird talks about how birds sometime use ocean shortcuts. New Zealand is voting for it’s bird of the year, falconers have been called in to help frighten off berry eating birds, and a landfill in New Jersey is making moves to prevent birds from being burned thanks to the efforts of the local Audubon Society,
